Roads back open after watermelon truck fire on I-95 in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Lanes are back open after a semi-truck carrying watermelons caught fire early Thursday morning on I-95 northbound in St. Johns County.

St. Johns Fire Rescue said the fire was reported around 2 a.m. around 1 mile north of the Southern Rest Area. They report it was completely extinguished by 3:30 a.m. No one was hurt.

Two lanes were closed for a time.

smokng while loadng those melons.. someone dropped a cigarette & it smoldered for hours, til the wind through the vents, caused it to flare up in flames... boss ain't going to be too happy with the driver or loaders !!!
