JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville kicked off a year-long celebration of 25 years of service in North Florida Saturday.
The event took place in San Marco at the charity's headquarters and included a race, pop-tab collecting, and a celebration.
More than 10,600,000 pop tabs have been collected in order to reach the organization's goal of 33 million, according to the charity's Cat McCarroll.
The charity's goal is to provide lodging and other support services for all families with critically ill or seriously injured children in Jacksonville.
Since 1988, the organization says it has helped more than 31,000 local families.
