JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The subject of a SWAT call-out on the Southside was found dead by police Saturday morning in his residence in the 3100 block of Fort Jackson Drive.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office went to the home after police say a husband threatened his wife with a handgun following a domestic dispute.

The man’s wife was able to escape before police arrived.

Negotiators tried to make contact with the suspect but never got a response back.

Police say when they entered the house they found the wanted man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The man’s identity has not been released.

Homicide detectives continue to investigate the case.
