JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- A change in the weather pattern is underway.  Scattered showers and storms will still develop during the middle of the day on Independence Day just inland then spread quickly west and northwest.  Brief heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning will accompany the storms, but the rain will shift west of Jacksonville by late afternoon.  The upshot is that Jacksonville and most areas will be dry through the evening with the exception of scattered showers and storms lingering near I-75 from Waycross to Lake City.  The beaches will have a few morning showers otherwise partly sunny and breezy with highs in the 80s.  Beware of an increase in the rip current risk -- never swim alone and always near a lifeguard.  Click ** here ** to download the free First Alert Weather iPad App.
