JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Duval County School Board on Friday voted against a judge's recommendation to allow a teacher back into the classroom.

District leaders voted to fire Donna James with cause.  She taught at Southside Estates Elementary school.

According to documents obtained by Action News, the district fired James last year for failing to supervise her students on at least four occasions.

The records showed that in once incident a student stabbed another student. In another incident, according to the documents, students engaged in sex acts in the classroom.

A judge recommended the district give James her job back but the board decided to go the other way.

During the hearing, her attorney called the allegations "unfounded" and "trumped up" by a principal who didn't like her.  James plans to appeal the ruling.
