CLAY COUNTY, Fla., -- A Clay County teacher woke up in jail Monday morning after having sex with a teenager.
All Clay County students are expected to return to school on Wednesday, however one second grade classroom will be without their teacher because she was arrested after allegedly having sex with a teenager.
Clay County Schools spokesman Gavin Rollins has read the police report and seen the booking report for one of their own staff members.
"Human Resources will place the employee on administrative leave with pay pending the results of the investigation," said Rollins.
Kimberly Brody teaches second grade at W.E. Cherry Elementary School in Orange Park, and was arrested early Monday morning after allegedly having sex in a parking lot with a 16- or 17-year-old boy.
Action News spoke to local Orange Park parents and they tell us the news is shocking.
"I have a child that age and my gut reaction is that's unacceptable, if that's what happened."
School leaders tell Action News they're contacting the parents of the students in Brody's classroom to alert them their children will have a substitute teacher until further notice.
"We take student safety seriously and so this is a case that we are concerned about and are watching very closely," said Rollins.
Brody's paid administrative leave goes into effect on Wednesday when school is back in session. When the court has an outcome for Brody, that's when the school district says they'll be able to make a decision on if she'll be able to re-enter the classroom.
