TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Gov. Rick Scott won office on the slogan "Let's get to work" and is now proclaiming "It's working."

The governor repeated the phrase several times in his prepared State of the State address on Thursday.

Scott pointed at falling unemployment over the past two years and encouraged lawmakers to continue to make the state more business friendly.

Scott also pushed for his proposed $2,500 across the board raise for teachers, saying steps he took his first year to eliminate tenure and base raises on performance makes it easier to move bad teachers out of classrooms.

He said he wants to make the Florida the number one state in job creation and education and to make sure it'd an affordable place to live.
