JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It's hard to imagine that anyone would want to hurt such a calm and gentle dog. But someone left a 1-year-old pup, vets now call Bo, to die.
"They were still very fresh wounds," said Jacksonville Humane Society Executive Director, Denise Deisler.
Bo had 10 deep slash wounds all over his body. He even lost a third of his blood before good samaritans in the Deep Springs neighborhood found him.
"I was horrified. The nature of the wounds were vicious," said Deisler.
No one knows exactly what was used to hurt Bo, but a reward is being offered to help find the person who attacked him.
"The Humane Society is offering $500, but others who heard about Bo donated $500 more to double it," she said.
Vets at the Jacksonville Humane Society Community Animal Hospital were able to stitch him back up. But they say Bo wouldn't be here if his attacker had hit any vital organs.
"It was a very vicious attack on him. It was very purposeful. And it is frightening to know that someone is walking around Jacksonville capable of doing something like this to something so defenseless and innocent."
But even after such a horrible attack, it hasn't stopped Bo from wagging his tail.
Anyone with any information about Bo's attacker can call the Animal Care and Protective Services at 630-CITY, extension 2-4-8-9.
