BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- Dozens of volunteers are canvassing Brunswick neighborhoods and businesses in a desperate search for 22-year-old Amber Whited. The search for the mother of two has renewed meaning. It is her youngest daughter's first birthday.
"Today is actually her daughter's first birthday and we really want to get her home for her baby's birthday," said Amber's aunt Martha Alan. The family say they won't stop searching until she's found.
"We're going down the dirt roads, we're going downtown, we're searching ditches, the woods, behind houses, knocking on doors, everything and anything," said Brent Boatright, Amber's ex-boyfriend.
The only thing that's turned up is the car Whited was in when she left work. It was found the day after she vanished, in what friends say is a dangerous downtown neighborhood.
"I texted her and told her I had to get a haircut and broke the screen on my phone. She text me back 'why' about 23 minutes after her break and hasn't heard nothing from her since then. I text her, I called her, everything. No answer, nothing," said friend Donnie Mosley.
Glynn County Police brought someone in for questioning late Thursday afternoon, but say he is no longer considered a person of interest.
