NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. -- The search for a teen who disappeared in rip currents while he was fishing at Fort Clinch in Fernandina Beach continues Friday morning.

The Nassau County Sheriff's office is searching for Caster Gray by land and by sea.

Gray's family is speaking to Action News about the ongoing search for the Georgia teen.

Gray was reported missing Thursday evening. He was net fishing in shallower waters near Fort Clinch when he stepped into deeper water and went under, according to the Fernandina Beach Police Department.

Action News Catherine Varnum spoke with Gray's sister who says Her brother was planning on getting his driver's license Friday. "It's hard not to think about it, because he's my little brother and we had actually had plans tomorrow, but now we can't do it," said Tasha Zackery.

Police say a companion, Hayward Collier, attempted to pull Gray to safety, but was affected by the strong current and was unable to pull Gray from under the water. Two others, Willie Frank Hallback, 61, and Greg Stewart, 15, also from Nashville, Ga. were interviewed by investigators.

Check his photo on the TV4 website--gangster pose, sullen smirk on his face, and the waist band of his pants below his butt. Really, Greys, of all the pictures of Caster that you could have given to the media, is that the image you want to leave with the public? If he were my kid, I'd want everyone to take away the impression that he was a clean cut, bright-eyed young man with a promising future. Mindful that "if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck;" then, if it looks like a gangster and is so stupid that it goes into the ocean when it can't swim and drowns, its a loss, but not a bad one.
