JACKSONVILLE (ActionNewsJax.com)  -- A teen girl is the second person to die after a police chase and crash with an aggravated assault suspect.

Krysten Q. Veal, 16, of Sanford was a passenger in a 2012 Dodge Charger driven by 19-year-old Jamal D. Jones.  Police attempted to make a traffic stop on Jones' car on I-95 at 2pm on Wednesday, but Jones allegedly sped up and drove off--leading police on a chase.

At exit 3, Kingsland Police Department officers attempted to stop Jones' car with stop sticks, but Jones was able to avoid the sticks and left the interstate.  He started driving north on Highway 17 toward GA.  Just north of Kingsland, a GSP officer used his patrol car to bump the Dodge Charger and end the chase.  The Charger was cut in two by the impact of the crash.

Jones and Veal were transported to UF and Shands in Jacksonville.  Veal--who had been listed as a runaway from Seminole County--succumbed to her injuries on Friday.  A third passenger, David L. Sessions, died on the scene of the crash.

Jamal D. Jones is still hospitalized in serious condition. He faces aggravated assault, felony fleeing, attempting to elude, aggressive driving, and window tint violation charges.

"a GSP officer used his patrol car to bump the Dodge Charger and end the chase. The Charger was cut in two by the impact of the crash"??? A bump wouldn't have cut the Charger in half. Is this another case of poor wording or is it another case of the reporter trying to sensationalize the news instead of reporting it? Is it possible that the crash after the GSP car bumped the Charger is what caused the Charger to be cut in half???

Good for the GSP for doing his job before these fools killed innocent people.

"a GSP officer used his patrol car to bump the Dodge Charger and end the chase. The Charger was cut in two by the impact of the crash" - Hope the officer is getting some counseling. I know this was not their intent. As far as the people in the car - bad result for a stupid decision. Don't run from the police! (It's easier if you don't do anything you need to run for)
