Seven swimmers reported missing in past 12 days

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Coast Guard says seven swimmers have been reported missing in the last 12 days.

Five of the seven swimmers were found dead. These deaths stretched across 450 miles of coastline from South Carolina to Florida, including Charleston, S.C., Beaufort, S.C., Fernandina Beach, Fla., Jacksonville, Fla., and St. Augustine, Fla.

Drowning is the fifth leading cause of accidental death in the United States.
