JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison for an April 2011 sexual attack.
Ernest Rankin, 48, was convicted in the attack on a 32-year-old woman.
He was sentenced on two counts of sexual battery, false imprisonment, grand theft auto, misdemeanor battery and assault. Rankin was also designated a sex offender. According to a news release, Rankin beat the victim and forced her to have sex with him. Rankin then held the woman against her will for 24 hours. When Rankin stole the victim's car, the woman was able to call the police for help.
