ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The St. Johns County man arrested last week on bestiality charges has been arrested a second time on similar charges.
James Lee Lyons, 52, was arrested Thursday and booked into the St. Johns County jail on charges of cruelty to animals, sexual activities involving animals, and failure to register as a sexual offender.
This comes after Lyons was arrested last week Friday for allegedly have sex with his neighbor's dog
In that case, Lyons posted the $11,000 bond. One of the conditions of his release was that he not have any pets at his home.
Animal Control Officers removed a pit bull and a terrier living in Lyons' home and had them checked out by a veterinarian at the Matanzas River Animal Hospital. The veterinarian said the pit bull did not show any injuries but the terrier did.
"The injuries to this dog's genitals were appalling," said veterinarian Dr. Nicholas.
The terrier is now being cared for by St. Johns County Animal Control. It and the pit bull will be made available for rescue.
Lyons is now booked into the St. Johns County Jail.
