Sex predator sent to prison for life
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A convicted sexual predator is going to prison for the rest of his life.
A judge sentenced Bruce Edward McCray to life in prison today for the kidnapping and sexual attack on an 18-year-old girl.
McCray kidnapped his victim at gunpoint on West 26th Street in October of 2009. He drove her to a vacant home and raped her. The state used DNA evidence and testimony from two additional victims to convict McCray of the crime. The victim could not be located for trial.
"in addition to the two victims who were courageous enough to come forward and testify, the JSO Sex Crimes Unit should be commended for its tireless efforts in linking the defendant to the multiple sexual assaults that occurred in the fall of 2009," said Assistant State Attorney Terence Martin.
McCray faced charges in five other sex crimes. He pleaded guilty to lesser charges in those cases and received 10 years in prison, to run concurrently to his life sentence.
