Sexual predator arrested for string of pawn shop thefts
MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- Police arrested a registered sexual predator who is a suspect in a string of pawn shop robberies in Clay County.
Deputies identified Albert C. Walden as the suspect after releasing surveillance video of one of the crimes to the public.
The owner of Middleburg Pawn told investigators a man stole 12 rings from the display case last Saturday. The rings are worth between $150-$200 apiece. The crime was caught on surveillance video.
The same pawn shop was robbed on Monday. The owner told deputies a man walked in and tried to open a locked jewelry display. When it wouldn't open, the man grabbed a Samsung Galaxy tablet, stuffed it under his jacket and walked out. The owner said the man in this incident was the same man from the earlier theft.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrested Walden Thursday night.
