JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man with multiple felony sex crime convictions has been sentenced to civil confinement.

38-year-old Terry Wayne Busler has been labeled as a sexually violent predator.

In 1996, Busler was convicted of Lewd Lascivious Act - Sexual Battery on a 12-year-old girl. In 2000, he violated his probation and was sentenced to five years in prison. Then in 1999, Busler was adjudicated guilty on one count of Sexual Activity involving a 16-year-old girl.

Experts testified this week that Busler suffers from a personality disorder which makes him likely to engage in sexually violent acts. The experts noted Busler needs to be in a long-term care facility receiving treatment.

Busler was sentenced to indefinite confinement at the Florida Civil Commitment Center in Arcadia, Florida.

Why do we keep people like this locked away when a noose and a tall tree is what they really need. Too bad the 16 year old had to suffer because the courts failed to do what was needed in his first conviction.
