Am I missing something here...why isn't there hundreds of comments about this travesty? You have a hospital located in another area of the city dictating to the state or pleading that they will lose "business" if Shands build on the North side? Why are we making patients "business" and talking dollars and cents and not thinking of the needs of the neighborhood? I am so tired of government giving in to business and taking "kick backs" or whatever it is instead of thinking about what's best for the people of Jacksonville. It was stated that the North side was one of the city's fastest growing areas and in my area alone there are several new home developments that are selling consistently. Not just foreclosures and short sales but new homes too. I should know because I've tried purchasing all of the above to find contracts already on pre-existing homes and decided on a new home to be built. So how in the heck can a judge in Tallahassee say there is not enough growth for a 100 bed hospital? An estimated 145,000 people on the North side and that's not enough? for 100 beds? Get real. What's really behind the denial? Do we on the North side have a say? We should! One of the reasons I decided to purchase on the North side was the new hospital! So if you ask me...put the hospital on the North Side! Seniors need it! Adults need it! Kids need it!

"...Our goal as always is to provide the most comprehensive, caring service possible for our patients and their families throughout northeast Florida." Not completely true. The real goal is to increase the investors' wealth. That is the true goal of any for profit business and it is known as capitalism!!! I love it!!!
