Sheriff's office investigation complete in Hastings burn case

HASTINGS, Fla.-- The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office has closed its criminal investigation into a man and child who were burned in Hastings last week.

Ther Sheriff's Office said a 20-year-old man was burning yard debris when he threw fuel on the fire. An explosion burned the man and his girlfriend's 3-year-old son.

Both were rushed to Shands Hospital in Gainesville with severe burns. The boy had second-degree burns. No word yet on their conditions or identities.

DCF is still investigating the incident.
