JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- "I can't sleep. I can't rest. Every place we go, I see her."
It's been nearly a year since Sherry Prather was found dead in a field on the Northside and still, no arrests. Surveillance video obtained by Action News shows Prather leaving Boots and Bottles Tavern on the back of a man's motorcycle.
"It's not enough for me. I want answers," she said.
A lot of details are up in the air, but one thing is for sure, she was murdered. Mother Norma Ellis said Prather's body was so decomposed, forensic labs took seven months to determine it was her.
Ellis hopes a push for new leads to closure. She said when and only when she hears the click of jail cell bars, will her family be able to have peace.
"Once we get justice for her, it might be easier because we know the person who did this to our family is being punished," daughter Mandy Gonzalez said.
"I don't want him behind bars. I want him dead. I want him on death row," Ellis said.
A balloon release will be held for Prather on Saturday, Oct. 12 on Braddock Road, where her body was found. It starts at 2 p.m.
