JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Session is out, our reps have returned home, and our federal employees are back to work. But the local recovery after 17 days of government paralysis is far from over.

Government offices, like Social Security and the Department of Agriculture, are backlogged, causing a delay in doing local business.

Green Acres Sporting Goods says concealed weapons permits piled up at the Department of Agriculture where employees where furloughed.

"What generally was a two- to three-week process to get it back in your mailbox is now taking eight to 12 weeks, could be longer. They're just so backed up over there," said 'Z' Farhat with Green Acres.

That means less customers are able to buy guns. Green Acres says it's a problem that won't work itself out overnight.

"It's going to take a while for them to get caught back up because of the shutdown," said Farhat.

Last time I checked you did not need a CCW to purchase a gun in the State of Florida. You only need it to carry the weapon concealed.
