Sounds like another effort to promote another pail with a hole in the bottom. Jacksonville's own 'White Elephant'. Like the 'Mayport Ferry' just another project which wastes taxpayers money and brings in no revenue. This city needs maintenance, cleaning and easement work, clearing and deepening. When asked, the city's response is 'we don't have the money in the budget'. They found millions for the stadium, which also absorbs our taxes without providing any property tax relief. I would suggest the city start being responsible to accomplish all the city maintenance projects, any and all other investment funding skyway, stadium, ferry, etc. be require to provide a percentage to relieve our property tax burden, or NOT FUND IT. No revenue, no funding. We elected leaders to LEAD the city, to provide safety services, and accomplish all maintenance problems, before squandering on pet projects and trips. Perhaps the city elected positions and all administrators need a 20-30% cut in pay and benefits...retirement included? Food for thought, for the next election?

"Right now, the Skyway does not make a profit." The street in front of your house doesn't either Deanna. While I certainly understand the 'fact,' to isolate mass transit and hold it to a higher standard then we do for highways. I'm sure there is a big investigative story in this somewhere, the revelation that roads 'Don't Make Money!' Be glad to chat transit and the 34 year old Jacksonville Streetcar Plan with you anytime, just give me a call. Robert Mann, co-publisher metrojacksonville.com
