MARIETTA, Ga. -- Court started early this morning in the DeMarquise Elkins trial. The judge is holding long days in an effort to speed up proceedings. Elkins, 18, is charged with the murder of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago.
Thursday, the jury watched the remainder of a police interview with the baby's mother, Sherry West. The interview was videotaped hours after her baby's killing.

Elkins' defense team claims it demonstrates West's bizarre behavior after the shooting on March 21. In it, she is seen crying, laughing, and whispering to herself that she hopes police find the killers.
The defense has about a dozen witnesses to call Thursday. One of which is the baby's father, Louis Santiago. He's expected to explain why investigators found gunshot residue on his hands.
Elkins faces life in prison, if convicted.
