South Georgia manhunt nets murder suspect
WOODBINE, Ga. -- Camden County deputies say they captured a murder suspect after nearly a 6 hour manhunt in marshlands along Interstate 95 Friday. Deputies were originally dispatched to the interstate in reference to a possible stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies say John L. Murphy, 26, fled the car and ran into the woods.
Air support and K-9 units were called in to help with the search and eventually found Murphy hiding in marshlands. Dep. Turner said Murphy, "...ran till the end and did not want to surrender." During the search, deputies say they learned Murphy was wanted for murder in South Carolina. Three other passengers in the stolen vehicle were arrested without incident and charged with theft. All face extradition back to South Carolina where they may face additional charges.
