ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A new 7-Eleven will be not coming to one St. Augustine corner.

Angry neighbors made their objections known to the Historic Architectural Review Board on Thursday. The appeal was denied 4-0.

Neighbors say the corner of May Street and San Marco is a traffic nightmare at any time of day.

Add a 7-Eleven, and Jean Cazazza said you're asking for trouble.

"It's just going to make a bad situation so much worse," she said.

The convenience store was trying to get a permit to build on that corner. One denial from the city of St. Augustine led to an appeal, which was being fought Thursday.

A representative for or 7-Eleven said the company was abiding by the code, working with FDOT and was willing to negotiate.

As a St Augustine resident, who has to use that corner every day, why is it listed as commercial property, when you can't use it commercially. Why doesn't St Augustine spend some money and fix the corner? Why can't they buy the property that that they say no one can use and improve the intersection? What is St Augustine's problem? There used to be stores at that intersection.
