St. Augustine beltway project moves forward despite opposition

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation has begun acquiring right of way for the planned State Road 313 project in St. Johns County. Some who live near the proposed route oppose the project.

The land abutting Mission Trace was designated for the beltway long before any homes were built. They should take it up with the developer that sold them the house. "Caveat Emptor"

Most every growing city has a beltway of some sort. It is better to begin such roadways now, then to wait until congestion becomes so bad that it becomes more difficult to build it later. I would prefer a mass transit system, which would be better and more efficient, less costly for users and might connect with those of adjacent cities like Jacksonville down to Daytona.
