St. Augustine considers booze on horse buggies
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.-- Bernie Orent believes a nice stroll through the Ancient City isn't complete without a little bubbly.
"I would love to enjoy a glass of wine since I just toured the winery," she said.
Right now, city ordinance prohibits alcohol consumption in vehicles on St. Augustine streets. With a growing number of tourists and weddings, City Attorney Ron Brown plans to change that.
"It's been brought to our attention. There was a complaint and therefore we've had to take a look at it."
That's music to Orent's ears.
"To be on a limo tour, horse and buggy tour. They've all personalized tours. They're somebody that you hire and something that you're celebrating."
The next step will move fairly quickly. The City Attorney plans on tweaking the ordinance, putting it back before the Commission and having it approved by next month.
