JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Task Force on Citizen Safety and Protection will meet in Jacksonville Tuesday to discuss the state's Stand Your Ground Law and hear from the public.

The law is the basis of George Zimmerman's defense on charges of second-degree murder.  Zimmerman admits to shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, but claims he was defending himself. The case has sparked debate nationwide.

That debate prompted Governor Rick Scott to call for a task force to be developed to analyze state gun laws.

The taks force will meet at the Adams-Jenkins Community Sports and Music Complex on the campus of Edward Waters College Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The public is welcome to attend, and speak for three minutes each on the topic of gun law and Stand Your Ground.
