State Board approves new improvement plan for public schools

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The State Board of Education has approved a new plan to reform Florida's public schools and colleges.

The strategic initiative includes revamped measures to guide student progress according to the Department of Education. The plan outlines the course through 2018.

"We need a strong plan to support our dynamic education system," said State Board Chairman Gary Chartrand. "I am confident that these strategies and goals will put Florida on a path toward raising student achievement, improving educator quality, and expanding school choice."

The new roadmap for success was a collaborative effort between the State Board and the Department of Education.

Why approve new FCAT scores? Get rid of the FCAT. It's pointless and a HUGE waste of money! We can get rid of certain school activities and electives but spend millions on a stupid test.....
