ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- As a Senate committee approved a bill banning the sale of e-cigarettes to minors, officials in Orange Park say it is yet to be determined how that would impact a similar ban proposed in their community.

"Without guidance from the state legislature, that will stand in the municipality of Orange Park,” said Mayor Jim Renninger.

The Orange Park Town Council has been debating the proposed ordinance regulating e-cigarettes for months, settling on a ban of the sale of the item to minors. It would also put restrictions on where e-cigarettes can be displayed at retail establishments.

We can't prohibit the use of e-cigarettes but we can limit it as we would with cigarettes and alcohol consumption in certain areas of the town,” the mayor said.

The council is set to take a vote on the issue in December.
