State education commissioner to attend summit in NE Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Florida Education Commissioner Tony Bennett will be at an Education Leadership Summit in northeast Florida early next month.

There are two meetings, one in Fernandina Beach and another in Neptune Beach.

The first meeting will be held at the Red Bean Technical Center at the Betty P. Cook Nassau Center of Florida State College. The address is 76346 William Burgess Blvd., Yulee. The event runs from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The second session is from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fletcher High School in Neptune Beach.

State Rep. Janet Adkins is hosting the event.

"Education is the one gift we can give our children that no one can ever take away," said Adkiins (R-Dist. 12). "These summits are a chance for working families and taxpayers who care about their community to be heard."
