PALM COAST, Fla. -- Flagler County Sheriff's deputies evacuated six homes Tuesday night in connection with a fire that injured the homeowner.

The fire at 20 Woodstone Lane in Palm Coast occurred just before 11 p.m. The state fire marshal was called in to investigate the cause of the fire, which firefighters called "suspicious."

The Palm Coast Fire Department extinguished the fire, which engulfed the home. Flames could be seen coming from the roof, according to deputies. They said the size of the fire and strong winds forced the evacuation of houses in the immediate area.

The resident, Harold Pizzetta, 54, was found sitting in a chair in the corner of his fenced yard where he apparently had been during the fire, according to the report. He said someone had broken in, set the fire and left. He was transported to Florida Hospital Flagler for treatment of burn injuries. There was no one else in the home.
