I used to work for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, We used to deduct 18% of our gas purchases from our gas receipts. So everyone must know that 18% of their gas payments already goes to state taxes. So at 3.30 gas price, that means we pay 59.4 cents each gallon to state taxes already. Also know that this does not go toward county and federal taxes that are also taken, which I do not know what the % is. I also do not agree with toll both, if we do not have the taxes we should not build these roads for tourists. Toll roads are build by independent companies to make profit, understand that. it would seem to me that toll booths would be a better solution, taxing by miles at registration, or gps only taxes residents, and gives all tourists a free ride, maybe booths at the border to start and see how that goes, or at least in addition to the gps, why let tourists get free use

Why don't they just increase the traffic ticket or install more camaras for automatic monitoring and pass that to the state? Or as simple as not bypassing the law anymore, even the JSO officers usually drive above speed limits, don't make full stops, don't use turn lights, etc. Everybody will benefit from people having better habits behind the wheel and they can collet more money. But seems like the money is the only thing they are interested in, and not actually about improving the culture of car usage.

wrong,, taxes on highways have always been taxed on use,,, so if you use them more than me,, then you pay more ,, simple !!!you want to drive on the beach, you pay,,, you go to the movies or dinner you pay ,, simple !!! so quit whining & pony up those bucks... this is a great idea & will force folks to use their vehicles more efficiently,, thus cutting down on roaming idiots out for a ride & clogging our roads !!! i'm all for this tax !!!

Total Smokescreen.... The State already grabs BIG BUX through Fuel Taxes, Vehicles Registrations, Driver License Fees and Transportation Permits... Vote any politician out of office that votes for this GOUGE.

How are you going to tax all those snow birds who own a second home in Florida, but their cars are registered in their home state? How about taxing bicycles. How about coming up with a better solution?

I agree that we need to do something in order to pay for our highway's, but to charge me for every mile I drive is ridiculous. I paid for every mile I drove in every state I traveled in my 18 wheeler. I averaged 100,000 mile per year. I do not know what the charge for mile was as it differet in every state. I also paid $400.00 apeice or more for two license plates. I also had to pay for all of the stickers on the cab and the bingo card. I always drove company rigs so I did not pay for them my self. Add all of this for 40 years and you have a big amount going to the states. Maybe we need to go back to the 60's and 70's when we were charged by the weight of our car for the tags. Remember the D , WW, WWW and plain tags back then.

I feel that its wrong for the state to tax your driving. The state have know right to invade peoples lives just to make a buck.Its wrong in many ways.
