JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A youngster at a local elementary school is in trouble after bringing a gun to school.

A student at Enterprise Learning Academy on the Westside brought a gun to school. Leaders found out about it when the student told his teacher that he had the gun in his backpack.

School security officers recovered the gun and notified the child's parents. A letter about the matter went home to parents today.

The student has been disciplined with a 4.08 Code of Conduct violation. JSO is reviewing the matter.

The school says it will investigate the incident as well, though leaders do not believe the gun was brought to school "with intent to harm anyone," said Sheridan Brown, the principal at Enterprise Learning Academy.
