NEW YORK CITY -- Security teams in New York are on high alert, particularly in Manhattan and East Rutherford New Jersey. But it remains a calm atmosphere for fans even as the search for suspects in a coordinated powder threat moves forward.

NYPD Officers special Hercules Teams, federal agents and even National Guard officials are already in place and mounting a show of force.

All are extra vigilant after suspicious powder was delivered to at least five hotels around MetLife Stadium.

One of the first warnings came from the general manager of an Econolodge in East Rutherford.

"Powder just came out of the envelope. And I was a little bit suspicious and a little bit afraid at the same time," said Elyem Naik, Econolodge general manager.

In a matter of minutes, HAZMAT teams swarmed multiple hotels and stopped postal delivery trucks mid-route. Even former mayor Rudolph Giuliani's officers were targeted in New York City.

Despite the commotion, most fans in town for the game say they play to carry on for Super Bowl Sunday.

"Everything is normal ... business as normal. It's all part of the game, part of the game. Someone wants attention, so they did something," said one hotel patron.

There is a sense of ease for fans thanks to tight security in New York's tunnels, a two-mile perimeter around MetLife Stadium and eyes in the sky equipped with night vision and infrared.

NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton said his city is ready.

"We have worked tirelessly to create a seamless security event."
