Suspect arrested in Putnam County attempted murder
INTERLACHEN, Fla. -- The stabbing of a man Thursday led deputies to arrest 69-year-old Jerry Hibbard at a home off Lake Louise Circle, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
Detectives say Hibbard tried killing a friend's father-in-law, Joseph Leonard, with a knife.
A press release states that blood was found splattered in the home's bathroom and that the floor was covered in blood as a result of the struggle.
The exact cause of the confrontation is unknown, but reports state that there was longstanding animosity between the two men.
Hibbard was arrested on charges of burglary and attempted first-degree murder.
At last check, Hibbard was being held without the benefit of bond in the Putnam County Jail.
