JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A suspect running from police was taken into custody after cops shot at him on a roof causing him to fall to the ground.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Criminal Apprehension Team was serving a warrant for the arrest of Deandre' Perkins, 22, for a May home invasion.

Police spotted Perkins in his 1999 Chevy Malibu on West 18th Street. After a short chase, Perkins jumped out of his vehicle at West 18th Street and Grunthal Street and fled south on foot. Police found an adult and a 3-year-old in the suspect vehicle.

Police commanded Perkins to stop multiple times before he climbed a fence and jumped onto the roof of a detached garage at 1631 W 16th St.

Officer M. L. Dougherty fired one shot at Perkins and missed. Perkins fell off the roof and was taken into custody without any injuries.  He was charged with Home Invasion Robbery with a Firearm.

There were no other injuries and no property damage reported. Officer Dougherty was not placed on administrative leave.

No no, you're supposed to get shot and THEN fall off the roof! We're trying to make life into an action movie and you're ruining it!
