ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The man accused of trying to murder a Flagler County firefighter was released from jail Friday.

Nathaniel David Juratovac was arrested in March by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office for what was an apparent road rage incident. Authorities said he made bail late last week.

Deputies say Juratovac was driving on U.S. 1 near St. Augustine Shores when he fired multiple shots at a vehicle driven by Flagler County firefighter Jared Parkey.

Parkey was hit by bullets and sent to the hospital. Parkey's wife was also inside the vehicle but was not injured.

Juratovac's bond was at $300,000.

Juratovac is a former Flagler Beach police officer and was being held in the Clay County jail for his protection.

To bad the average citizen doesn't understand legal definitions. He is guilty of attempted manslaughter and assault. Not attempted murder. Not that people bother knowing the terms they can charge you with. With the events last year of police killing a man when they got the wrong address, and it being whitewashed. I would be more concerned with that kind incident than this guy getting off.

"and was being held in the Clay County jail for his protection." The heck with his protection, this idiot fired a weapon multiple times into an occupied vehicle. He needs to be kept in jail for OUR protection. Our justice system is broke when the criminals get more rights than law abiding citizens.
