Any loss of life is a tragedy, and a thug is the unfortunate failure of family and poor judgement. We must all be aware and prepared to protect ourselves, our families, and at times, others, if we can safely do so. My hat goes off to the armed citizen making that split decision, stopping a crime and protecting another. Pray I never have to draw my weapon, but am prepared if the threat is apparent. My fiancé is also a pretty good shot, which is comforting if out of town on business.

I am sorry that a perp lost his life, but am glad that none of the employees or costumers were hurt. I was glad to hear that his own family turned him in to the police. Also there was no fuss made because a black boy was shot. This is the way it should go. It looks like Jacksonville is finally getting enough of these bumps breaking the law and letting the police know who it was and were to find them. Way to go family.

My son worked at the store and was robbed a few months back. Might have been the same 2 because we never heard that they caught them. probably thought they were going to get another easy $400 but they picked the wrong time to rob the store again if it was the same ones. I thank God no one else was hurt.

But the government wants to disarm all of the law abiding citizens and then only these thugs and government thugs will have guns. I say they are going to have one hell of a fight on their hands if they try to take mine!

@Truth seeker..the article in the news paper did describe his race as Black.I don't feel sorry for this Thug..just sorry he didn't get both.I pack every where I go except Banks..Hospitals..Gov.buildings..Churches and anything can happen in those places too.I tell all..learn to to use a handgun..then get a permit and always carry a revolver armed with hollow points..my choice is a S&W 38 with a 3inch barrel.I am legal..THUGS/THUGETTES beware.

It would be easier to deter ALOT of these types of crime if Florida was an Open Carry state.
