JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The State Fire Marshal is investigating after a fire ripped through a vacant home on the city's Westside early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters are now calling the fire suspicious.

Neighbors told Action News they woke up to popping noises around 2:30 a.m. and came outside to find the home on Columbus Avenue engulfed in flames.

JFRD said when firefighters arrived, flames were shooting through the back on the home. Investigators think the fire started in the attic.

No one was inside.

A man who did not want to be identified told Action News he had just moved out of the house two days ago. He now lives around the corner and heard the fire trucks Wednesday morning and came outside to see what the commotion was. He said he's devastated because he had not finished moving out all his belongings like his TV's and couches.

Fire crews told Action News the home will likely be a total loss.
