JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The JSO bomb squad investigated and later detonated a suspicious package found downtown.

A briefcase was found on the boardwalk of the Southbank, near riverboats and the Chart House restaurant.

Officers used an x-ray plate to scan it before exploding it without injury.

Condominiums and businesses are nearby but a JSO spokesperson said the businesses were closed so no evacuation was necessary.
