SWAT standoff ends in North Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says a SWAT Team standoff has ended without injury after a man fired several shots into the roof of a home on Shellcracker Road.

According to JSO, an argument broke out between a woman and her boyfriend around 12:30 a.m. The man allegedly fired a couple of rounds into the ceiling. The woman was able to escape from the house and called police. She says her boyfriend was being violent and threatening to commit suicide.

The SWAT team surrounded the house, and when the man woke up this morning he noticed police outside and surrendered without incident. He is in custody.

The standoff lasted about 4 hours this morning. The identities of the couple have not been released. Stick with Action News for all the late-breaking details.
