LAKE CITY, Fla. -- Police in Columbia County say several pounds of synthetic drugs are off store shelves after a recent crackdown operation.

Lake City Police worked with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and the State Attorney's Office to confiscate bath salts and marijuana-like substances from several businesses Wednesday morning. Police say the drugs are stimulants produced as substitutes for ecstasy, cocaine, and amphetamines. The items are commonly available at smoke shops and convenience stores.

Governor Rick Scott banned the drugs back in March saying they are a public safety threat. Possession is considered a felony.
