JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The man accused of killing Jordan Davis in what police are calling a murder over loud music will have to pay for his own defense.

A judge Tuesday denied a second motion by Michael Dunn's attorneys to have him declared indigent.

It would've allowed him to accept public funds for his legal expenses.

Police say Dunn killed Jordan Davis on Black Friday last November.

Investigators say Dunn asked a car full of teens to turn down their music at a gas station on the Southside. An argument followed, then gunfire.

Police say Dunn fired eight to nine shots into the car, killing Jordan, a 17-year-old student from Wolfson High School.

Dunn was in town for his son's wedding.  He told police after the shooting he went back to his hotel with his girlfriend and ordered pizza.

Police arrested Dunn at his home in Brevard County the next day. He told investigators he felt threatened by the teens.

He claimed the teens flashed a shotgun, but police didn't find a weapon at the scene.

Dunn is set to go on trial in September.

Al and Jessie, where are you? I really don't know the facts about this case, but whether the kids had a gun or not, he should have ignored the trashy music and walked away. Dunn had that choice. When Zimmerman was on patrol and turned to get his vehicle,he was jumped from behind he did not have that choice. Two totally different situations. Mr Davis lost his son only because some idiot didn't like the music. Mr Martin lost his son because his son like to kick creepy ass cracker ass. Sad for both dads...wish people would wise up and learn to live together and accept that we are all different. Thank God.

This guy killed a kid for no reason so sad. We should not have to pay for this man for nothing.

This guy is an A-Class idiot! Here is another case of an adult that stepped in his own poo. He feared for his life~um, should not have been the idiot to start this and then to finish it by killing a kid. Then he wanted to be considered indigent to get a "free" lawyer. Oh my, it does get better. I suspect this one will get convicted and all will be well with the city! Well, may be in some areas.
