Teacher accused of molesting student gets new lawyer
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A former teacher of the year accused of molesting children now has a new lawyer.
The Public Defender's office withdrew its counsel from Christopher Bacca after he retained a private attorney.
Bacca was a teacher at Windy Hill Elementary before an allegation that he sexually abused one of his students surfaced in July. He faces four counts of sexual battery and four counts of lewd conduct. He entered a not guilty plea.
His next court hearing is set for October 25. Jury selection could get underway December 10 if Bacca does not waive his right to a speedy trial.
