Tebow's high school jersey to be retired
PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -- Tim Tebow's former high school football team will honor their famous former player by retiring his jersey. Nease High School will do the honors before their game against Menendez next week.
The ceremony for #5 is scheduled for Friday, October 19. Tebow will not be there but he will send a video message for the crowd. His parents are planning to attend the pregame ceremony to represent him and receive an honorary diploma in his name.
Tebow was Florida's State Player of the Year twice while at Nease. He was homeschooled while he played there from 2003 to 2005. He won the Heisman Trophy as a quarterback for the Florida Gators. He now plays in the NFL for the New York Jets.
