The difference is being enticing some one to have sex with you as opposed to enticing them into having sex with someone else for you own monetary gain. The same difference between smoking a joint with a friend and selling a joint with a friend. In the incident you cited, without proof of a payment from the man to the boy, it is not a crime if the boy is past the age of consent in the particular jurisdiction. The involvement of money, paid or promised, changes intent and/or determination for any crime. In the case this story talks about, even if the victim was not a minor, it would still be a case of human trafficking. There are also issues of crossing state line that can turn it into a federal crime. There might even be interference of custody issues since the Youth Ranch was a state licensed and excepted referrals from public sources. The incident you cited happened in Minnesota and he was a Representative in that state's legislature, not a U.S. Congressman. That makes it an issue only under the sovereignty of that state. A citizen of another state has no right to dictate issues of law they are not directly affected by in another sovereign's jurisdiction. That would be like someone from another country demanding you be arrested for being stupid or using the internet to insult a governmental body. I am actually writing all this for others to read since based on posts you have made, rational thought is not one of your strong suits.

Double standard exists. Reason didn't a gay congressman recently entice a young 17 year old boy into having sex with him at rest stop? NO charges as the boy was considered of age for sexual consent. Why is that Congressman not charged? He was not from Fla but this stuff about predators doesnt seem to apply to Congress he even being allowed to step down in way so his seat doesnt come up for re-election. So the law only applies when the government wants it to.
