PALM COAST, Fla. -- A Flagler County High School student is facing charges after injuring a deputy during a fight at school. The Flagler County Sheriff's Office says the 18-year-old Matanzas High School student, Allen Brown, was arrested at 7:45 a.m. Monday after he injured a school resource Deputy John Landi during a fight in the school cafeteria. Deputies say Brown was seen by administrators coming into the cafeteria and removing his shirt. They say he then walked up to a 15-year-old student who was sitting at a table eating breakfast and began punching him.
Deputies say school administrators and the school resource office separated the two students. They say Landi then yelled to Brown to stop fighting, but instead Brown punched the deputy repeatedly, striking him in the face and knocking him to the ground. Deputies say Deputy Landi used a Taser on the student and held him until help arrived.
Deputy Landi, Brown and the student were all treated at the scene by Flagler County Medical and Rescue personnel. The parents of both teens were notified.
Brown is being charged with battery, battery on a law enforcement officer and disruption of a school function. He is being booked into the Flagler County Detention Facility
