JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- After two weeks, the man accused of taking the life of a 17 year old as she slept is now behind bars.

Ismet Sijamhodzic, 51, was arrested Friday for vehicular homicide. Police say he ran a stop sign in his mini-van and drove into the bedroom of 17-year-old Wolfson High School student Janay Jackson on August 28. Jackson was sleeping in her bed at her parents' Southside home.

Action News has learned Sijamhodzic has a history of bad driving in Duval County.

Below is a list of the citations and arrests he's had since 1996:

  • Careless driving 2/96
  • Speeding at intersection 5/96
  • Ran stop sign 1/98
  • Speeding 1/99
  • Speeding 9/99
  • No insurance 9/99
  • Speeding 9/99
  • Unsafe driving 9/99
  • Speeding 3/02
  • Providing alcohol to person under 21 12/03
  • Unsafe driving 2/04
  • Speeding 12/07
  • Providing tobacco to minor 9/09
  • Animal noise 8/11

Right now, he's being held in the Duval County jail on $250,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 8.
