GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Family and friends of Christian Aguilar remain hopeful as they search wooded areas of Gainesville hoping to find their missing loved one.

Christian's cousin Angel Valencia says, "It's incredibly trying. It's hard. It's hard on all of us."   The 18-year-old University of Florida student disappeared Thursday night after a fight with a friend, Pedro Bravo, who police have identified as a person of interest.

Action News asked Gainesville Police Officer Ben Tobias, "Do you believe Bravo is telling you the truth in all that he's saying?" He says, "We believe a lot of it. We believe there was an altercation and we believe that Christian was definitely injured."

Bravo called police Friday, telling them that Christian was missing. They began their search in a parking lot near Streits Motor Sports, where Bravo tells them he abandoned Christian after their fight.

Since then, the search has moved more than 10 miles from that original location. "Judging from where we started our search Friday, to where we're ending up. We're in two different sides of the city. So obviously information is coming to us, leading us to different parts of the city," says Tobias.

But regardless of where they're told to search, family and friends go willingly, hoping to find their missing loved one. "We're not going to give up. Of course not, no way, that's not even an option," says Valencia.

Bravo was arrested Monday afternoon and was charged with Depriving a Victim of Medical Care.  He is expected to make his first appearance Tuesday morning at the Alachua County Jail.

18-year-old Aguilar was last seen wearing a blue-gray hoodie and light-colored jeans.  If you have any information please contact the Gainesville Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau at 352-393-7604.
